June Plans

Its official. We are moving in 6 weeks from tomorrow and are coming back up to Utah 8 weeks from today! haha I guess we can't stay gone for long! We just bought our plane tickets to come back up for our sealing!

Everything has just worked out that this is the best scenario, there was already so much done for our sealing in SLC that it would have been too much hassle to change it to Mesa. And it was best for us to start the job mid June. Oh well, it will be a wonderful weekend with the family and beautiful weather I hope.

We will spend our anniversary driving my Focus back down to Arizona on Sunday... We will be back late Sunday night in time for me to sit around all day Monday and relax on my 23rd birthday!

Happy Wednesday!!

We are off to a good start for Spring quarter! I started my internship at Jamestown yesterday and it is so much fun! I love being around elderly, they have so many fun stories and experiences to share, not to mention they are so sweet!

I have already finished 6 of my Physical Science online assignments... just 2 more and then I have to take my 1st midterm! Its definitely NOT an easy class, and there is a ton to remember, but I will do it and I will finish! As far as Biology goes, I just submitted my petition to substitute a higher level PDBio class for a lower level one. Cross your fingers that they accept it and I don't have to complete Bio 100... cause its a stinker too!
We also were able to go to the Provo Temple this morning and do our first session there! It was lovely and I was so thankful for this sweet woman who saw that I was lost and helped me the whole time!

Dan and I also decided it would be a great weekend to go to Rexburg, Idaho and visit Matt and Kandace, as well as Dan's cousin Sean! I am so excited!!

Moving Day: June 12th

We decided today that our official moving date is June 12th. Dan finishes his last final the day before, but doesn't have his internship that week so he can help pack things up. June 12th is just under 7 weeks away, I can't believe it.

I need to get a lot of work done on my online classes because they have to be all complete about a month after we move. I have 8 exams total... ugh I better get started!

We are coming back up to Utah the last weekend of June for our Sealing in the Salt Lake Temple and we plan on flying up and driving back on our anniversary!

Graduation

I was so happy to finally walk at graduation! I was surprised to see my name in the program, because they had told me that August graduates would not be listed, but they listed us in our own spot!!! I have heard so many stories this past few weeks about people only having 1 or 2 more classes to finish and not finishing! I am too determined not to finish, hopefully I will feel like a real graduate once I finish my 2 online classes!!!

Graduation day was so much fun. We picked up my Mom from the airport and went straight to get french toast from Kneaders! After that we got ready and went to take pictures at the duck pond on campus with my Mom and Dan. When we were leaving the pond, a man driving a tractor pulled over. I was confused for a moment and then realized it was our wonderful bishop, Bishop Engelhardt!!! It was so fun to see him and introduce him to my Mom!

We then got an amazing parking spot right near the Smith Field House and grabbed a Jamba Juice before the ceremony! We got there right when the School of Engineering was getting out so we got great seats that happened to be right behind our dear friends, the Shakespaeres! Dan had fun playing with Manix during Graduation!

Graduation was long but fun. There were 4 people from our BYU ward that were graduating, Emily Dixon, Dujuan Shakespaere, Allen Christensen and I. There were also 4 people from my home ward that were graduating, Sean Sitton, Josh Holm, Taryn Salmon and I. It was great.

After graduation we went to PF Changs and had delicous food and then we all crashed at the Calkins!

Tomorrow we are going through the Temple and I am soooo beyond excited!!!

Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning this year was inspired by the fact that A) My Mom is coming on Friday B) We are trying to sell our apartment and C) (most importantly) It would make Dan sooooooo happy!

It took me 5 hours to clean less than 500 square feet! I did everything from dusting to vacuuming to massive overhauls on the junk that was in the apartment. I actually found a home for every little thing that has been hanging out in the open. The bookshelf was the biggest project and I couldn't be happier that I finally did it! I actually feel like we could have people over without stressing out!The whole time I cleaned I kept thinking about how happy Dan would be when he got home. I wanted to tell him what I was doing but I knew it would be more fun to surprise him (the state of our apartment has been pretty dismal after my 20 credit hour semester and working on top of that!) Today was the perfect day to clean after finishing my last final!

Dan was so excited when he got home. I almost started crying, it was so fun to do this for him and make him so happy! I definitely need to work on being neater, but with Dan so happy, I want to do this for him more often (especially now that this semester is OVER!)

Going to be the Best Weekend Ever?

Its taken me 5 long years to graduate and I cannot believe that my graduation is this week!!! I am so excited that Dan and I are going through the Temple on Saturday. I feel so blessed. I am so glad we made this decision and never thought this weekend would come!It has taken well over a year to get to this point since we decided that we wanted to go through the Temple and be sealed. It has been a long road and I know the next 2 months before our sealing will feel like forever, but I am so excited, regardless! I know the past few months have seemed to drag by. Since Saturday every minute seems to go on forever. Sunday morning I woke from a wonderful dream that it was Saturday April 25th and we were going to the Temple. I was sad when I realized it was just a dream. Just a few more days and my dream comes true :)I am really thankful for everyone who has helped us and encouraged us. We know we moved into our apartment for a reason and were blessed with such a wonderful and supportive ward. We have felt so welcome and loved. I am going to miss the friends I made this year, it has been so wonderful! I don't think Dan and I could have asked for a better Bishop! He has been our number one fan since the first day he met us! I adore him!

YAY!!!!!

Sunday Post Secret - Texting and Driving

These are 2 things I currently feel passionate about. I found out our car insurance will almost double moving to Arizona because of the high number of uninsured drivers but I also believe NO ONE should text and drive!!! (I skipped last Sunday because none of the secrets jumped out at me as something I feel...)

Goodbye Epidemiology!

I just took the final for my online Epidemiology class that I needed to graduate! I was seriously worried that I wouldn't be able to get the passing grade I needed on my final in order to receive a grade in the class! With the help of everything good in the world, I somehow did better on the final than I did on the midterm and gloriously will take a C+ in this course. I have never been so happy about a C... I don't think I have ever been happy about a C!!!!
I will never open this book EVER again!

Last Day of Class

I am so happy today was the last day of class!! I turned in my internship notebook after finishing 300 hours at the Health Department! I never thought this day would come.

I also found out today that my gerontology internship only requires 75 hours when I thought it required 150! I will have enough time to finish up my online classes, oh joy....

We are still looking forward to moving to Arizona and are still not sure when we will move down! I am thinking it will be mid June, but we will have to wait and see!

OK my finals start tomorrow and my last final is next Wednesday! Wish me luck!

Then my Momma will get here next Friday for my Graduation and our Endowments at Draper on Saturday!!!!

2 Weeks 2 Days

My mom will be here and I will be done with my internship, finals and (hopefully) with one of my online classes :) that will equal 20 credits for this semester!

I just bought new shoes for graduation! I finally picked out which one of my dresses I am going to wear and I was really in need of a cute pair of shoes!

Then on Saturday the 25th we go through the Draper temple to get our endowments! :)

I want the next two weeks to go by and so I can get to the great weekend we have ahead of us! Still on the job search but we are praying something good will happen for us in the next little while!

July 1st - No More Texting while Driving!!!

I am so excited for Utah and this ban coming July 1st! I hope that this law will sweep the nation. I am currently writing a research paper on this subject and this is something I feel strongly about. Texting while driving must have consequences. Sadly enough we need more laws passed in order to limit cell phone use and other distractions in order to reduce the number of distracted driving fatalities.

"The first text messaging law of the legislative season comes from Utah, whose governor signed HB 290 on March 25. The Utah ban on texting while driving goes into effect July 1.

Utah and Virginia will be the eighth and ninth states with laws that restrict text messaging while driving. California joined the club Jan. 1.

Under the legislation signed by Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr., text messaging infractions begin as class C misdemeanors, but become class B misdemeanors if the driver has been convicted of texting while driving in the past three years. The class B infraction also applies if the texting is linked to a serious injury.

(FYI Class B misdemeanors are punishable by up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. The punishment for Class C misdemeanors is up to 90 days in jail and a fine of up to $750.)

Numerous other state bills regarding texting and driving remain alive for 2009. Almost all limits on cell phone use by drivers are dead or dying.

Legislatures this year gave serious consideration to text messaging bans for drivers, but little to handheld cell phone sanctions."

Hello April

I am so glad to see you!

April is here and that means a few wonderful things... there's less than 2 weeks of classes left! Finals are just around the corner! My mom will be here in 3 weeks and I walk at graduation! Dan and I will go through the Temple for the first time the next day and I am so excited. I will be (hopefully) done with my health statistics class by the end of this month and will only have 9 credits between me and my diploma (well I technically only need 6 of them)!

Dan and I went and got our oil changed this morning in both of our cars... sadly this is the first time I have changed my oil since we have been married... the last time was June 19th. Surprisingly enough I have only driven about 5,000 miles since that time. Very different from my first year with my car.

Speaking of my car, Stewie and I are celebrating our 2 year anniversary together. My mom and brother officially picked him up for me over April conference of 2007. I believe he had 39,000 miles on him at that point and now he has about 63,000. I went down to AZ to pick him up about a week later and on April 17th I got my first speeding ticket (it was my first day back in UT). Go Stewie! I love my little car and its been such a blessing to have my own car at school after the first 3 years of being carless.
In other news, we are back from our trip to AZ... it was fun. It was not long enough, and unfortunately I was worried about School while I was there. I can go without getting on a plane again for a while. We are hopeful that Dan will find a job, be it in AZ or UT. I just want him to have a job!
