Be Positive

So the whole... "you shouldn't write on your hand" rule in life because it doesn't look good or you can get ink poisoning... well I say "whatever!"

I have been trying to do a better job at NOT writing on my hand. But today I found a good reason to. Well actually I thought about it last night when I was lying in bed and Dan was already asleep. I woke up this morning, found a pen and wrote 2 little symbols on my hand "B +"

I wrote it on the top of my hand where I can always see it and I am sure my mom would be irritated if she saw me but it has helped me today at work alone but what I really want to do is to be more positive when I am at home with Dan and am frustrated for all the millions of things that can frustrate people.

Merry Christmas in July!

We are 5 months till Christmas but Dan and I were excited to be able to purchase our plane tickets for the holidays to go to my home in Arizona and visit our family! We found the cheapest tickets flying Delta on Christmas Eve and coming back New Years Eve. We figured nothing happens those mornings anyway so might as well fly for cheap! Plus we used Dan's Delta miles he has earned and now are flying for next to nothing which is a huge help seeing as we have next to nothing hahaha.

I am proud to say we have figured out all the main things we need to be an up and running married couple. We have set up joint checking, signed up for BYU health insurance, are now insured by Geico for car and renters insurance and have our wedding rings insured by Jewelers mutual. There were a few bumps along the way but one thing I learned is there are plenty of ways to do things if the way you planned doesn't work out.

Anyway I am just so excited that Dan and I have almost been married for 1 month. It feels like we have been married 2 days and that we are just starting out, but I guess we are still starting out. I learn everyday how to be a better person living with Dan. Normally with roommates if you don't get along you can just ignore them but living with your best friend and Husband changes things. This is the smallest place either of us have ever lived in and we are in it together! Everyday he is gone to work I get excited for what I can get done while he is gone. Not because I don't want his help, but because I want him to come home to a better apartment than when he left.

I am going to make our first home made meal tonight. We have been eating quick prep stuff for the first few weeks but I figure I have a Friday night, I can make us a nice meal without having to go to a restaurant!

Daniel Is My Favorite

It never feels like I get to spend enough time with my wonderful husband. Having such a demanding schedule like Dan does calls for lots of Brittany by herself time when she should be unpacking time...

I love my husband and I wish we could quit school and work and just honeymoon all the time.

Ok I have to get him to finish his homework now!

Apartment

Our apartment is 425 square feet of pure love and happiness... (ok that 2nd part is not always true)

We are getting it put together and as I get things done I think I am going to start posting some pictures!

Marriage is awesome... Its a major adjustment from single life and even from engaged life. I was so used to being able to just go home and be alone for a while before I went to bed but then I would be up half the night because I couldn't sleep. Now that I am married I have Dan their all the time when I am doing things like getting ready to go out or for bed and having a small apartment we are always in each others "space" as I say but once we get rid of some more of the boxes we should have some more room in our living room and I will hopefully calm down about him being their while I am doing my hair, make up, brushing my teeth and all those things I haven't done in front of people.

PS... I have never shared a room before so as bratty as that may make me I have always been the only girl and I have always just had my own room. He is great though, he helped do laundry last night and carried the bags down 4 flights of stairs and ran back up to the top when I forgot the soap. He even got rid of some old shirts after we ordered him new ones from old navy!

I love Dan and I love him for tolerating me while I adjust and he has been doing great at the adjustment.

Our "Vacation" just ended

We have been married for just over 2 weeks now. It was a great wedding with some crazy ups and downs... Mostly ups... I only had one major freak out and I won't go into much detail over that! hahaha

The wedding was fantastic. We even had the blessing of some shade on the wedding day due to a fire on South Mountain that was blocking the sun! (I know I should not be happy about that but it felt so much better to me than the areas that weren't).After the wedding we spent my birthday at my mom's house and opened some of our wedding/birthday presents. That night we drove up to Peoria to stay at a resort that is super secluded and out of the way. We spent most of our week by the pool or at the movie theatre it seemed. We saw Wall-e, Get Smart and Hancock... I liked them from most to pretty good in that order... none were bad!We started our drive back up to Utah on Saturday the 6th. Painstakingly, both of us were feeling sick. Maybe the idea of getting back to work! We made it up here and the next day moved into our little apartment! We could not have done the move without our friend Adam. He showed up bright and early after we picked up the U-haul and stayed till the move was done, even helped us put together our bed!

After some careful maneuvering we are now more adjusted to our 425 square foot apartment. We have had to purchase a few pieces of "furniture" to assist us in being more organized like big bakers racks for our kitchen and storage racks for our bathroom. We were excited to get our biggest rack for the kitchen last night! We were able to put it together and get our microwave set up as well as our pots and pans, toaster and crock pot... Now we just need the last few screws that Ikea forgot to give us and we can have a kitchen table! (plus I need to paint it!)

I have already (slowly) started decorating... the only place I have hung anything is the kitchen. The rest of the rooms, I am like... psh what do I do! But I have like 5 things hung in the kitchen.

We have had just a few bumps along the path to get started. It took a little extra work than I had planned to get health insurance and like I said our apartment was smaller than we had thought but none of these things are stopping us so we just move on to the next task... like getting my name changed and getting car insurance.

Dan went back to school this morning. I was sad to see him go... I have been getting up earlier than him and like that he has had a break and is able to sleep in. I feel bad that he has to get up sooo early because he lives even further from school now. He really loves me and knows that I can't drive in the winter here without having a heart attack. On Sunday while we were in church I had the feeling that Dan and I should say a prayer in the morning before he goes to school... even thou I don't need to get up until later. I felt like in high school that our family did that and it made me feel better and that hopefully I can feel less anxiety about Dan driving to school in the morning if we pray first.

Our first Sunday in our ward was super special to say the least but I won't go into that. We are going and that is important to us and we are working this year to be sealed in the temple. Doesn't matter how many times the bishop asks when Dan converted or how many people just assume Dan goes to BYU. We can do this! I love Dan, I don't have a clue why he puts up with me at times but that boy loves me.

Ok sorry for such a long post... future post will be more fun/will contain pictures.
