I took Ava to the doctor this morning because she has a goopy eye and I figured she needed eye drops... turns out she has her 5th ear infection since October.
The doctor talked to us about getting tubes put in Ava's ears. I am sick over the idea of having Ava put under for this procedure. I called Dan after crying my eyes out. Here's my little girl happy as can be and not even upset with a 5th ear infection in 5 months and they want to put her under for tubes. BLAH.
We have a decision to make and I know I want her to be happy AND healthy. Not just happy. I called my mother in law to tell her and she even said, "you would never know Ava is sick" and you wouldn't! She is the happiest baby and still sleeps 12+ hours with an ear infection. Mother in law says Ava must have a high pain tolerance and will be good at giving birth hahaha. She's right though. Ava can fall and hit her head, or bump her arm or trip on her own feet and she never gets upset, even when I think she should.
I'm lucky to have such a happy baby, but not so happy about the ear infections. I love my little Ava.

Ready for winter to be OVER
This winter has been relatively mild as far as snow goes, but I'm so ready for it to be over!!!
Ava's been sick sooo much this winter, ever since we got back from our trip to AZ in October it seems like its something every other week. Last week it was some virus that gave her bad diarrhea and a rash, this week (still dealing with the rash), she has RSV for the 2nd time this winter!
Poor girl is having such a hard time breathing. She is so happy aside from being sick but I hate for her to be sick.
Today, however, she did the cutest thing ever. I walked into her room at 5 to check on her while she was napping. She needed to get up and when I walked in I noticed she was sitting up in her crib. I turned on the light and she was sitting there, with a binky in her mouth and one hand holding onto a crib bar, totally asleep! I scared her awake when I started laughing. It was so cute.
Other big bonus is we got her a small space heater for her room. She is sleeping better and not waking up freezing cold. We usually have to have our heater almost up to 80 degree's and its still freezing in our condo. Now we don't have to worry about it because at least Ava is comfortable!!
Anyway READY NOW for winter to be over. Not to mention, I'm really excited about Ava's first birthday. Not that I'm ready for my baby to be 1, but I've got her pictures planned and can't wait to do them! I also can't wait to see Ava's reaction to her smash cake :)
OH and this summer I can't wait to get Ava in her cute little swim suits and get her a kiddie pool to play in! She loves water so much so I know she will have a blast!

Ear Infections
It seems like since we have moved we are often dealing with Ava getting sick with one thing or another. She had never gotten sick in her first 4 1/2 months and it seems like the last 4 1/2 months have been trips to the doctor every few weeks for something.
She's got a double ear infection this week... This is her 3rd or 4th go around with ear infections in the last 4 months. It makes me so sad. She is in so much pain and wakes so often when she has ear infections. She cries so hard and I hate to know she is in pain.
Thankfully this time we caught onto her signs within 2 days of them starting. The first time it took me over a week to figure out she had an ear infection :(

Nebulizer
Well we took Ava back to the doctor on Thursday. Her cough is basically all gone! Thank goodness! Poor girl has been coughing (mostly in her sleep) for 3+ weeks. The doctor told us that this is bronciolitis most likely caused by RSV which also caused the croupy cough.
She told us Ava isn't actively contagious so as long as Ava doesn't go around licking people we should be okay :) She does have some wheezing left over and so the doctor is having us do breathing treatments 4x a day with her to help with that.
We had to wait all afternoon yesterday for Intermountain Health Care to come deliver her nebulizer. The guy went through how to use it and everything and my last question was, "so when do we return it" ummm "nope this is yours, its a purchase" OH okay... I guess our insurance won't pay for us to rent one but they will pay for us to own one.
Anyway we'll get a picture of Ava using it once we pick up the medicine that goes in it. I hope she cooperates. She gets to wear this cute little fish mask :) Cuteness aside, I just want her breathing better and feeling better. I hope when we go in next the wheezes are gone and we don't have to do a chest x-ray :(

Sick Ava
I hate hate hate when Ava is sick. She was sick for a month straight from 5-6 months. 6-7 were great and now 7-8 has been really rough. She has had a night cough for over 2 weeks now and a cold that started last week. Now her cough has changed into a really nasty barky cough and she is wheezing.
Once I heard her coughing during her nap the barky cough and the wheezing today I took her into the doctor. We didn't see our usual doctor and it was a rather confusing appointment. We discussed RSV, Pertussis, and Croup. She is being treated for all 3. She did say she has Bronciolitis.
She got a steroid shot, a breathing treatment and antibiotics. Seriously, I feel so confused right now. If she is worse tomorrow then we have to take her to the hospital for a chest x-ray. If she stays the same or starts getting better then we just go back to the doctor on Thursday. I hate having a sick baby. Its so frusterating and sad not to be able to fix it.

Sick Day
Everyone is sick here today! Ava hasn't been feeling well for a few days and then all of a sudden both Dan and I got really sick in the middle of the night. I hope Ava doesn't get a fever and that she doesn't have an ear infection but she has been acting like she has one and won't eat very much. Guess we will see tomorrow if we like her new Dr.
