I <3 Quilting

I started this quilt tonight... Its hard to tell but each color has different sizes of white polka dots. I got as far as cutting out the squares and laying them out to figure out how I wanted the pattern to be. It has been a really long time since I have done a quilt with such large squares, but I figured it would be fun! This is only the top 3 rows... I didn't have the energy to lay out 4 more! I think I am going to put a very thin strip of whatever fabric I use to bind it on the boarder and then large strips of white around that then bind it... if that makes any sense... and I need to pick out a fabric for the binding... I also need to go back to the store and pick up red minky for the back!

Ward Calling: Nursery

I was super happy when we got this calling yesterday. Its where I have wanted to be for a long time! I think Dan will adjust as time goes on, but he did really good yesterday with the kids. Thankfully one of my Young Women's leaders (way back when) is the Nursery Leader, it helps me feel more comfortable having her there.

Yesterday was tough because it was the first time I have stayed at church for all 3 hours since my morning sickness started well over a month ago. I was not feeling well, but I made it. I know there are plenty of people in my ward who don't know I am pregnant and I am just keeping it like that for awhile.

9 weeks - 6 pounds

18 weeks - 12 poundsI made Dan put his first shirt on him that Kate gave him to see the difference! We could barely get it on. I just can't believe how much he has grown! I can't believe we have had him for 9 weeks now. Time has gone by really fast.

Made it back to AZ

We had 2 flights last night... one to Denver and straight from Denver to Phoenix. I don't like flying so putting me on 2 flights in a row was torture! I am thankful that we don't have any trips planned that involve flying for a long while.

I am still looking for a job, which is extra fun. I am hoping to find something at an assisted living home so it can count towards my internship credit I need to do this fall!

I am glad to be home and back in my own bed... Plus Tiny missed me greatly! haha

Made it to UT

We are here and already leaving in 24 hours.... such a short trip. This will be our last UT trip for a while and that's a weird feeling. We have enjoyed being around all the family without some big event to attend. I am exhausted and need a vacation from our vacation! haha That's all I have to report.

TGIF!

We are heading up to Utah tonight for a few days to see the entire Calkins clan. I am looking forward to some cool weather and some relaxing time. Also to the fact that I will have the opportunity to interact with people! Haven't had too much of that being shut up in my house not feeling well.

I did think that my morning sickness was going away this week (and by going away I mean still feel sick just not throwing up). I spoke too soon. In a way I am thankful for feeling sick. It comforts me in a way. I know that must sound strange.

I am hoping I can make it through the plane ride tonight. This is my first trip ever not checking luggage... I know, I know, I always take too much stuff! I have a jam packed carry on duffle and hopefully that's all I will need. Ya for future posts that will have pictures!!!

This thought brings a lot of peace to me tonight. I think this applies to more than just motherhood, it applies to us all, no matter where we are at in our life. I have been trying to focus more on being thankful for each moment I have. Its comforting to understand that their are hard times but that those hard times make the good times even more joyful.

Tiny's 2nd Vet Appointment

He is 10 pounds 9 ounces! He is such a chunky puppy! Last visit he was just over 7 pounds! He thankfully didn't pee on anything at the Vet's today and he took his shots like a champ! I love our puppy!

Morning Sickness

I have started looking forward to 2 pm everyday! That is when my morning sickness eases up enough that I can usually do things again and eat. Not always but most days.

I can't look at raw meat and the smell of cooking chicken just about kills me. I really don't like "watching" TV while I am sick because for some reason Burger King dominates the air ways and has gross commercials with large patties of meat that fill our 42 inch screen.

I have been trying to find different "remedies"... I will no longer eat saltine crackers and pretzels are soon to follow on the list of what I won't eat... Strawberry Jello is doing okay on my list and I still am liking the sprite zero...

I keep hearing that ginger helps. I don't like drinking tea (or anything hot for that matter)... I am starting to think I want some of that ginger from sushi bars! But I don't really know any good sushi places where I could get a California roll and some ginger...

Pregnant!

We are due mid March! This still feels very new to us, but morning sickness has really made it seem more real for me. We are thrilled none the less. This is my favorite picture we got today because we got to see the heart beat!
