3 Year Old Ava (long for my records)

Ava is 3!!! I sound like a broken record but I cannot believe it! She is growing up too fast! We are so amazed by her and are so in love! We couldn't have dreamed up a more perfect little girl! She is funny and loving!

Once again another year has passed, Ava is getting older and just like last year I am not pregnant and reminded again that Ava is going to be probably 5-6+ before she gets another sibling whether that be through pregnancy or adoption (if she gets a sibling at all). For now (well as of this weekend) we have decided this year to focus more on our family as it is right now... meaning no fertility treatments (we have too many medical bills from this year already to afford them anyway) and focusing on the positives of life with an only child. Hoping this helps me with my sadness and depression.

This doesn't mean I can automatically turn off my emotions surrounding friends and family that keep having babies OR that we aren't trying anymore. Its still hard (and will be) to see babies everywhere or to hear people complain about their kids (everyone hug your babies and forget that you don't get any sleep please, there are tons (not only me) that would give up all the sleep in the world to be in your shoes ;) We are just going to TRY and focus on the life we have with Ava and not the sadness we feel about not being able to give her siblings. Okay onto AVA!

Ava had her 3 year well check today. Ava's stats today were:

40 inches tall
38 pounds 8 ounces

She's struggling a little with some hearing issues that we will soon be getting more help with. She's going to have a sedated hearing exam done next month and then we will be meeting with a Pediatric Developmentalist. She may have some sensory processing issues from so many ear infections but we will see.

Ava's wearing 4-5T clothes... Her legs are finally catching up with her torso.. She is comfortable in a 4/5 shirt and 4 pants.. She is wearing size 10 shoes and is in size 5 diapers. We potty trained before her surgery, she did great but they asked us to use diapers for her surgery and she went right back into diapers with no interest in using the potty so we aren't pushing it till she is ready again.

Ava talks non stop, she has struggled some this year being understood because of problems with her throat and ears but Dan and I feel like she is improving. We had her speech tested and she had a mild/moderate delay but they didn't qualify her for speech therapy. We are supposed to have her retested by the school district this summer.

She has all of her teeth except for one front canine on the bottom. We aren't sure where that tooth is that she was supposed to get around 1 year old but we will be taking her to the dentist soon to find more out. I'm missing 2 teeth on bottom so I wonder if she is missing it completely.

She is still like usual a great sleeper. She gave up napping all together this past year, somewhere around 2 1/2 I think. She still has quiet time in her room everyday and reads books or plays. She loves that time and if she doesn't get that 2 hours in her room she gets really moody in the evening so we don't mind. She still will fall asleep in the car when we drive somewhere but just not in her bed at naptime anymore. She loves having a twin bed. She's finally stopped falling asleep on the floor mid playing :) She now plays in the evening and then tucks her self into her bed when she is ready to finally fall asleep. I still go in her room every night to marvel over her cute sleeping self... I can't help myself. I don't know if I'll ever be able to stop :) when she's 16 I will be still sneaking into her room to watch her sleep.

She is a pretty good eater, but kind of picky. She likes what she likes and she need to be in charge of her food. Don't try and make her eat anything or its less likely (or pretty much guaranteed that she won't try it). She loves anything with cheese, grilled cheese, mac and cheese. She's switched to almond milk this year because of a slight dairy intolerance. She also loves chicken, bananas, avocado, black beans, peanut butter/honey sandwiches, granola bars, graham crackers, yogurt, eggs... just to name a few of her favorites.

She's such an independent little girl. She loves to play with other kids but shes happy as can be to play by herself with all her toys. She adores little toys like beanie babies and little people. She makes them talk to each other and have conversations. She's very creative and imaginative! I love watching her play! She loves watching movies (big surprise, she is my daughter!) She loves Disney pixar movies like cars, nemo, toy story, she loves the princess movies a ton and lately discovered Cinderella :) and her nick jr shows like Dora, Diego, Nai hao ki lan, wonder pets and she went through an Elmo phase this year.

Shes know her ABC's forever it seems and counts pretty well to 20 now :) She loves to count! she will count everything possible. She loves to read books, Dan reads to her at bed time but she can be found reading her books too. She's an expert at using the ipad or iphones. It amazes me that she knows how to use them so well, maybe even better than me!

She is an amazing little girl, so friendly and loving. We are so blessed to be able to call her ours. She amazes me with how much she is growing into this beautiful little girl. Its hard to believe that she will be starting school soon and I have a hard time thinking that I won't get to spend all of my time with her! I love our time together, she is the greatest part of my days!
