Sick Day

Everyone is sick here today! Ava hasn't been feeling well for a few days and then all of a sudden both Dan and I got really sick in the middle of the night. I hope Ava doesn't get a fever and that she doesn't have an ear infection but she has been acting like she has one and won't eat very much. Guess we will see tomorrow if we like her new Dr.

Hogle Zoo

We had so much fun taking Ava to the zoo! I think we enjoyed it more than her but she loved looking at everything with us :)

5 Months

5 Months Old

Ava is 5 months old today and to keep my records going, she weighs 19 pounds today, is 28 inches long. She still has a 17 inch head. She is wearing 6-9 month clothes but we have already started pulling out 12 month clothes as well. And she is fitting nicely in size 3 diapers.

Ok now that I have gone through my usual stats. When is my child going to slow down!!! It only took Ava 2 months to gain the first 6 pounds and now 3 months to gain the next 6.

She is starting to eat solids but we are kinda going back and forth on starting them. If I only fed her carrots she would be happy but she can't just eat carrots forever.

She rolls everywhere, sits up and is starting to scoot herself forwards and backwards. I have a feeling she will be crawling soon!

I miss my PC

All I have right now is a really old Mac Powerbook that won't recognize my camera, which makes my life hard since I take so many pictures. Thank goodness I bought a 2nd SD card for my camera. But still, it has been hard not being able to send ppl photos right after we moved!

Hopefully after Dan's friend comes over tomorrow we will have a working desktop again, if not we are going to have to go buy a new computer... not what I want to do but I will in order to be able skype with my mom and upload my pictures!!!

Update

My baby girl is going to be 5 months on Sunday. I can't believe she is almost 1/2 a year old. How did that happen!? She is over 18 pounds now but I don't know exactly how much she weighs. She has been wearing size 2 diapers for a little too long but I was determined to make them work a little while longer because we had so many. They fit great around the middle but are finally getting way too short in back. That's the story of Ava though, long torso baby with a little middle. But today we start size 3 diapers :) Hopefully she can stay in this size for a little while longer than 1 or 2's cause we have a lot of size 3 diapers!

Yesterday we weighed her car seat (with her in it) on the scale and it is nearly 30 pounds!! OMG its sooo heavy to lug 30 pounds around. I am dreading getting a new car seat though with our car because it will be even harder to get her in and out with only 2 doors. Will we ever get a new car?? We need to start saving money so we can upgrade soon.

Since we moved

We only moved up here 2 weeks ago but a lot has happened. Mostly with Ava (of course)! Its amazing all the new things she has done since we moved. Here is the list of all of Ava's new things in no particular order because I can't remember when she did them exactly:
  1. Sits up now (usually only lasts a minute or so).
  2. Grabs her feet all of the time.
  3. Weighs about 18 1/2+ pounds now.
  4. Rolls over constantly. Lay her on her back and she is immediately turning to her belly.
  5. Sounds like she is saying MaMa all of the time, she gargles too and doesn't growl as much as she used to.
  6. Sleeps 7+ hours now in her crib, before we left she was still sleeping only 3 or 4 hours in a row.
  7. Drinks 6+ ounces now instead of her usual 3 or 4 (must be what helped #6 happen).
  8. Grabs at things a lot better now.
  9. Loves carrots, went a lot better than when we gave her avocado at 4 months.
  10. Misses her family in AZ (or well I have decided that she misses them)
I am still having a hard time with our move. A lot of things have changed and I miss my friends and family. I miss my mom so much. I miss seeing Ava play with my family. We have a lot less interaction with people here, probably because I don't know very many people.

We like our new ward, its extremely loud, there are about 1 billion babies, most of which seem to be younger than Ava. They must have had a ton of births between April and June! Not to mention there are quite a few pregnant ladies that still haven't had their babies.

I met a mom who's little girl is 2 months old and lives close to us and another mom who's daughter is 3 but she makes all of her daughters bows so we are going to get together and craft together, so that will be fun.

Our Move

This last week has been crazy but I have a moment to update so I guess I will.

We had hired a moving company to move us so we wouldn't have to drive a large moving truck this year like we did last year. We were really excited about this. We simply had to pack the truck when it arrived and then they would drive it to Utah. Well on Thursday last week we got a call from the company, our customer service rep told us that the truck that was in route to our house had major mechanical failure and was no longer going to arrive on Saturday and they couldn't tell us when a truck would be arriving. WHAT! grr We tried to work something out for 2 days but then on Friday we had to bag it and call Penske to reserve a truck for that day!

Thanks to my family we got the truck all packed pretty quick. My brothers did a great job moving stuff really fast. Dan's mom flew down on Friday night to drive back up with us so that Dan didn't have to be alone in the truck and so that she could help me with Ava in my car if I needed her to. I'm thankful for all of our family because we could not have done the move without them.

The drive was pretty bad. I'm thankful I never had to drive our moving truck but the first day we drove from Tempe, through Bullhead City and Vegas to St George. Boy it was a horribly long day. Took us 11 hours to get to St George. Ava screamed the last hour straight and there was no where to pull over. It was bad.

Finally on Sunday we got into Orem and got our keys. Once again family and Dan's amazing friends came over to unpack us on a record hot Utah day. It took about 2 days to get our main furniture set up but Tuesday night was our first night sleeping in our new place. Ava did wonderfully, Tiny didn't. We let him sleep in the living room and sadly enough that didn't work because too many windows equals one whiny dog. We moved his bed into the 3rd bedroom which will now be the Office/Tiny's room/Guest bedroom.

Last night everyone slept well. I was able to feed Ava at 5am, get her back to sleep, take Tiny out to go to the bathroom and back in without ever waking up Dan. This is always my goal. He doesn't mind helping but I'm stubborn and really like to do it myself and let him sleep. I never thought I would be a morning person but waking up at 5 is totally fine by me now.

Today we are going to get our new Utah licenses, title and registration. Too bad Utah is dumb and couldn't figure out how to make 1 DMV where you do all those things at... we have to go to 2 places.... ugh Utah.

Sold the Honda

We decided a few weeks ago that we are going to sell both of our cars and become a 1 car family. We really didn't need two cars this year but there was no extra money to buy a car this last year. We figured we would now sell both the cars and once a good (newer) used car came along (bigger of course) we would buy it!

We didn't expect to sell the Honda this quick but my brother Brett's car started leaking gasoline and seeing as its from 1979 my parents decided it was finally done for. We have to get everything signed over pretty quick. I have no idea what we are supposed to do with the plates or the registration or anything. I think we know how to sign a title over but I guess we better figure out pretty quick what to do with the rest.

Now we are going to have to squish into the Focus to drive up to Vegas and then up to Orem. Oh well we will just make it work. This move is just happening so fast, its driving me nuts. Its hard to sleep at night trying to plan everything out! blah.

Oh and if anyone has any good recommendations for cars that fit these qualifications, let me know:

1) good in snow
2) 4 doors
3) bigger than a hatchback ford focus
4) decent enough gas mileage

:) I actually wish Dan would let me get a minivan but I think thats a big fat NO
